Mario Cult Fan Board Survey
I decided that Mario cult fans could give me an interesting answer. Did they? We'll see if Gamehiker Boards gave the survey a new spin.

Mario's Growth
This is a survey for a MB Gold, a Mario site I run. All posts that I choose will be put on the site. I will give you the URL afterwards.
How has Mario (or video games in general) affected your life?
What changes should be made to the Mario series? Do you like the direction it's taking?
What game sucked up the most of your time? Do you have any great Mario memories?

Who's this Mario everyone keeps talking about? o_o?
Question 1: Well, unless you count the facts that Mario was the first video game I played as a sentient human child, and I had so much fun with it I went on to spend countless hours trying to recapture that in years of video gaming; in relentlessly pursuing video game knowledge, I cultivated a vast vocabulary, and have sharpened my creative talents thinking up game ideas, and other game related projects and activities; they kept me off the street and helped me deal with what would have otherwise been a dull, colorless, lonesome, and oftentimes painful childhood...
...then, no effect at all.
Question 2: I'd like to see the series return to it's multiplayer origins in some form, either in alternating play, or simultaneous 2-Player 'Bro' action.
In addtion, while even Shigeru may scold me for thinking of non-gameplay elements, I'd like to see voiced conversations, and maybe even a neat song routine now and again. I'd like to see new sorts of levels, and new level goals (even bringing back the old 'get to the finish') implemented in 3-D platforming.
Also, while I'm always open to new ideas, and loathe bringing things back from old games just for their own sake, I think much could be done withe the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower in current games.
Call me a purist, but I'd also like to see more Mushroom Kingdom-y settings in 3-D.
3. I'd say SMB took up more time than any other, as I recall it took me nearly a year to finally complete. My fondest memories include the day I got the game and my initial fear of the new thing in my house, and how amazed and engrossed I became when My dad turned it on and I saw a cool interactive cartoon with a little carpenter for a hero, and how my dad and I explored it like Lewis and Clark exploring the New World, eyes wide open and talking excitedly whenever we got a step farther.

I run a website, I spend money on games and time. How is that NOT affecting it?

We definitely need to see more of Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, and Wario kicking butts and taking games.
What game sucked up the most of your time? Do you have any great Mario memories?
Probably... .... .... I don't know. Maybe SMB2? I've beat that a zillion times.
And my fondest memory would have to be discoverign the first flute in SMB3 and perhaps SMRPG (it being my first RPG aside from Zelda 2).
