Super Mario Brothers.: Altered States
Bowser finds a weak little guy who's a genious. He's been ridiculed all his life for his ideas for inventions, although they do work. Bowser figures he might as well see what this guy can do for him. Bowser gives him power for each day that man gets closer to finding a way to destroy Mario, and finally being able to marry Peach. And when the machine is finally built...
Mario wakes up in his normal bunk bed, but there are no odors in the air. He doesn't hear anything either. Mario opens his eyes to find himself in a place he's never been before, where the sky looms gray and dull, and dieing grass lays on the ground. He hops down in his pajamas to the ground, and breathes a sigh of relief that Luigi is still there. Mario wakes his brother up, and, in their pajamas, they need to find a way home. They'll battle things straight out of a nightmare, such as apparition ants claiming revenge for every time they've been squashed, to things they'd never expect, like evil Peach, Daisy, and Toad. Few people in this land are willing to help, but one that is, is a friendly ghost that shows the bros how to use new items(IE what to do with a UFO[can you say "flight sim level"?] once you get it).
Now that "little guy" has become an evil mastermind under Bowser, and the whole land of Mushroom Kingdom lay in chaos. Through this, Peach and Toad have escaped. They need to reach Bowser's new friend and get the machine so they can free Mario and Luigi.
Once Mario and Luigi's adventure is done, you can play as Peach and Toad to work on freeing them. (At the end of the Mario Bros.' part they're back, and at the end of Peach and Toad's part the Marios are back. The two happen at the same time, even though you may do Peach and Toad's part later.)
